Drive from Auckland (up to 4 hours) or take a 50-minute flight to either Bay of Islands or Whangarei airport, the former being just a 15-minute drive away from the Riverside Homestead. Taxi transfers (Haruru Cabs or Paihia Taxis) are available to The Homestead. Rental cars must be booked in advance. We can also arrange a chauffered luxury limousine from Auckland at a very reasonable price and our own luxury electric vehicle also offers a business-class chauffeured experience.
Follow State Highway One north of Auckland for around 2 hours to Whangarei, then continue north for 45 minutes to Kawakawa. Passing through the township, with its iconic (in New Zealand) Hundertwasser ablution block and museum, drive 23 kilometres in the direction of Kerikeri to the large, new Puketona roundabout. After marvelling at its handsome circumference, take the second exit towards Paihia. Drive 4 kilometres to the river-side Homestead which is located on the left just a minute past the quarry – look for Walnut Lane on your left and watch for the sharp left hand driveway into the Homestead at the brow of the following rise.
